A fast, open journal publishing high quality research across all of science, engineering and mathematics.

Royal Society Open Science is the Royal Society's new open access journal.  It is overseen by twelve distinguished and eminent Subject Editors, all of whom are practising scientists.

Royal Society Open Science will operate objective peer review - publishing all high-quality articles which are scientifically sound and advance scientific knowledge, leaving judgement of importance and impact to the reader - thus allowing the Society to publish all the high-quality work it receives without restrictions on scope, length or impact.  As its title suggests, the journal supports transparency in science, including open access, open data and optional open peer-review.  A full suite of metrics will also be available for each published article.  The journal will launch in September and there will be an initial, introductory waiver on publishing fees.

The President of the Royal Society, Sir Paul Nurse, says:  "We are delighted to be publishing this exciting new journal. We hope that Royal Society Open Science demonstrates our continued support for open access publishing and a commitment to publishing research that benefits science and humanity."
